The Greenkeepers

Green and White Posts – Jan 2020

You will have been aware of the green and white marker posts in the rough on the left hand side of the 1st/10th fairway, these are to assist in identifying the area where a golf ball may have been struck and to help those waiting on the tee to determine when the group ahead will be out of range.

There are six posts altogether and have been placed at 25 yard intervals, the nearest is approx. 100 yards and the furthest 225 yards from the Winter Tee.

These posts are Movable Obstructions and without penalty a player may remove the movable obstruction to play their shot (The provisions of Rule 15.2 apply).

Meridian Trees
The two Meridian trees positioned either side of the 1st/10th fairway will shortly have their stakes removed, but in any event from 1st January 2020 are no longer to be regarded as ‘Staked’.

In conjunction with our new Greens Director, our three green staff have been hard at work on the course, with many members positively commenting upon the work that has been undertaken.

Comments from our members

Lovely place. Great function location. Beautiful grounds. Lovely people. I’m having my wedding reception here and the staff have been very helpful.

Having played and been a member of a number of the local clubs over the years, including the “bigger” clubs I recently joined Shortlands Golf Club and couldn’t have a made a better decision. The course is superbly presented and the work on the bunkers really is transforming them from good to great. Its a very friendly club without the airs and graces of some and I have been made to feel both very welcome and in need of more practice!
